How My Colour Analysis Works: A Fresh, Modern Approach in Nottingham

If you’ve been looking into colour analysis, you’ve probably seen people talking about having their “colours done” or waving fabric swatches around after a session. It’s become a popular service- and for good reason. Understanding the colours that truly suit you can be a game-changer when it comes to simplifying your wardrobe, boosting confidence, and shopping with purpose.

If you're curious about how my approach compares to more traditional or formulaic versions, here’s what sets it apart.

I use the same foundations- but with more flexibility

At the heart of colour analysis are three key principles: undertone, depth, and intensity. These are the universal foundations I work with- but I take a flexible, individualised approach to how we explore and apply them.

I’m trained in both seasonal and tonal colour systems, and I often blend the two to create what’s known as an extended seasonal approach. While different systems may use slightly different terms, they’re all describing similar colour families. What matters most to me is making sure the language, categories, and recommendations work for you. No rigid rules or one-size-fits-all answers.

A personalised palette- not just a category

Rather than placing you in a fixed “season,” I create a bespoke digital palette that reflects the nuance of your natural colouring, personal style, and lifestyle. You’ll come away with a selection of wow colours, versatile neutrals, and accent shades- along with practical guidance on how to wear and combine them. I also include tips on makeup, jewellery, and accessories that suit you.

When I first started out, I used fabric swatches- and I understand their appeal. But over time, I found them a bit too limiting for many real-life wardrobes. I’ve worked with lots of women who didn’t quite feel they fit their swatch book, or who never used it. My own colour consultation years ago left me feeling the same way- and it’s that experience that shaped the more adaptable, modern approach I now use.

That said, if you love a physical swatch, you can absolutely still have one. I work with a trusted supplier and am happy to provide a swatch book on request.

My focus is practical, not just theoretical

Colour analysis should make your wardrobe easier to use- not more complicated. It’s not about hunting down the perfect shade of teal if you can’t find it anywhere or don’t even like wearing it.

That’s why I invite you to:

  • Send photos or short videos of your wardrobe

  • Bring along makeup you already own

  • Bring in items you’re unsure about wearing

Together, we’ll make sense of your colours in a way that works with what you already have, rather than pushing you toward a list of new purchases.

Contemporary, considered, and completely tailored

My approach is both contemporary and grounded in real life. I appreciate that some traditional styling systems can feel outdated or overly rigid, and that’s just not my style. I use tools like Pinterest to create inspiration boards and I’m always thinking about how this experience supports your wider wardrobe goals and lifestyle.

Whether you’re dipping your toe into colour for the first time or looking to refresh after a big life change (babies, menopause, new job, new chapter- I see it all!), my goal is the same: to help you feel like you, but more confident, clear and put-together.
