Stylish and Practical Raincoats

When you spend a lot of time out and about, whether that be the daily school run, dog walking or you just enjoy a good ramble, a decent raincoat is a must in the UK!

Like most people I speak to, until a few years ago I was only aware of the traditional outdoor brands available in proper walking shops, having owned a frumpy navy jacket which definitely wasn’t flattering or stylish! I then discovered Seasalt coats whilst holidaying in St Ives and three years on and it was one of the best investments I ever made. It may seem excessive to potentially spend over £100 on an outdoor jacket, but if you’re regularly outside for extended periods, you need the reliability of a jacket that won’t leak on you if you get caught in a downpour- I’m sure we’ve all been there!

Although the High Street shops have jackets in their regular collections, they are often only Water Resistant which makes them suitable for light showers, which is fine if you are only outside for short periods. However, if you want an impenetrable jacket for the heaviest downpours you need one described as Waterproof.

For ease and practicality all the brand and products featured are washable at home. They all have their own recommended care instructions and products to ensure the continued performance of the products, which I have noted in the ‘Good to know’ section.

Here’s my favourite waterproof jackets for the warmer months, most of the brands also design insulated heavier weight styles for the winter months:
