Beautiful Wedding Guest and Special Occasion Outfit Ideas

Weddings, Christenings, the races or a Summer Soiree, I have put together five looks from the High Street inspired by the recent outfits worn by the ladies at Ascot to inspire you.

As always, put your own twist on the outfit within your budget and use any current pieces that you own rather than having to buy a whole new outfit.

Bohemian Maxi

Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge, wore a blue spot tulle dress to Ladies Day. I have relaxed and put a slightly bohemian twist on the outfit with this tiered ruffled dress from Topshop and adding some spotted details in the shoes and shape of the Raffia bag, which adds a fun individual twist to the outfit. For most occasions, headwear is not typically required, but if you want a more dressed look this blue pastel fascinator matches the dress perfectly.

Fresh and Warm

The warm vibrant colours of Natalie Dormer’s really stood out amongst a lots of light pastel outfits. As Natalie has done, I’ve picked up the bright coral and olive colours in the pattern of the French Connection dress in the accessories to keep the look coherent but fresh. The block heel on the shoe means that you’ll be comfortable on your feet all day and the delicate drop earrings could easily be worn during the day.

Statement Jumpsuit

Defying a conventional dress, Flora Johnson wore this statement red jumpsuit and straw hat. This wide legged jumpsuit from Boden has a close cut waistband to define your shape and a tailored look, it also has pockets! Rather than a straw hat, which most of us would probably feel like Worzel Gummidge (reportedly returning to BBC soon!), opt for some contemporary statement earrings. These leather ones are a available in a variety of colours and styles.

Monochrome Lace

Lady Kitty Spencer, niece of the late Diana, has been on my radar since the stunning green outfit she wore to Harry and Meghan’s wedding and at every event she has attended since! Kitty always looks effortlessly polished with a contemporary classic style. This stunning white lace dress from French Connection is timeless with classic black accessories. If you’re concerned about upstaging the bride in white, fear not the dress is also available in a vintage pink colour.

High Contrast

Gabriella Hirst embraced the high contrast trend in this bright purple and pink dress with pink accessories. The beautiful floral print of the Finery dress incorporates the same colours as Gabriella’s dress. rather than the hat, I’ve added a Boleyn style headband for a more wearable contemporary twist, which is the same chalky pink colour as the stacked heel Boden shoes. The leather black bag has a croc print and chain strap, for a sophisticated timeless look.
