My Recommended Products to Extend the Longevity and Appearance of Your Clothing

As an owner of a hard working Capsule Wardrobe, it’s important that the pieces that I own are kept in good wearable condition as long as possible. This not only maintains their appearance but significantly increases it’s longevity, which means I get to enjoy wearing it for longer without needing to replace it. This has a knock on effect not only on maximising the Costs per Wear of the item for myself, but helps the environment as it keeps the textiles in use for longer.

All the products I have recommended below are part of my personal at home care kit and are items that I use myself and recommend to my client’s.

  1. Cashmere Comb

To get rid of pilling on tight woven knits like cotton and cashmere with a sweater comb.

2. Fabric Shaver

To get rid of pilling on looser and chunkier knits, if you find the comb makes the wool ‘fuzzy’ you need to use this instead. This Philips Fabric Shaver is the most popular on Amazon.

3. Clothes Brush

Sometimes traditional is best! I find these more effective than sticky rollers and better for the environment too. John Lewis, Dual Action Brush.

4. Waterproofing

Nik Wax are the preferred care range for a lot of specialist outdoor clothing specialists. They have a wide range of products for different needs. I use the TX Direct Wash In and Tech Wash Bundle for my waterproofs.

5. Leather Care

For jackets, bags and other leather products my go to’s are Clothes Doctor and Nik Wax. The lawyer in me gives you this disclaimer: always check the suitability for your particular product and do a patch test first!

6. Moths

Ensure your knitwear and delicates are protected. I always recommend Acana products.

If you’re interested in finding out more about highly recommend following the Wrap The WRAP Love Your Clothes campaign which aims to raise awareness of the value of clothes and encourage people to make the most of the clothes they already have, something that I’m very passionate about.
